COST SAVINGS & ADAPTABILITY

COST SAVINGS & ADAPTABILITY

Snow Bridge vs. Portable Steel Bridge

COST

SNOW BRIDGE

  • A fraction of the cost compared to renting a temporary steel bridge
  • Requires only 1 snowmaker and 1 snowcat or dozer
  • Snow melts in the spring with no removal expense

STEEL BRIDGE RENTAL

  • Large trucking and pilot car costs for installation and removal
  • Often requires dozers to skid, winch, and push rental bridge in and out of location
  • Requires multiple large sized excavators to install and remove
  • Labourers required for installation and removal
  • Expensive monthly bridge rental fees

STRENGTH & SIZE

SNOW BRIDGE

  • Can support heavy loads such as 750 excavators, D9 dozers, drilling rigs, lowbeds, rock trucks etc.
  • Can be built to any length, width, and height to meet job specific requirements
  • Many of our snow bridges have spanned 200' (60m) in length

STEEL BRIDGE RENTAL

  • Less adaptability for a smooth transition between steel bridge and natural terrain
  • Limited options for length, width, and height

ENVIRONMENT

SNOW BRIDGE

  • Zero environmental disturbance

STEEL BRIDGE RENTAL

  • Requires excavation for installation
  • Multiple pieces of large equipment working near a stream or river leads to a higher risk of water and ground contamination
  • Vegetation disturbance
  • Trees often need to be cut down to widen road corners for bridge transportation

LOGISTICS

SNOW BRIDGE

  • Our snowmaking crews can easily access almost any bridge location, despite narrow winding roads, muskeg, or steep hills
  • Snowmakers can build an infinite number of snow bridges without prior planning
  • No transportation delays of getting portable bridge to creek or river

STEEL BRIDGE RENTAL

  • Heavy trucks, pilot cars, dozers, excavators, and labourers all have to be available for installation and removal
  • All trucks, equipment, and manpower must be scheduled correctly, or delays and wasted expenses will result
  • Removal requires as many resources as installation does
  • Access roads must be of sufficient width with gentle corners for bridge transportation
  • Access roads must have sufficient frost to support heavy trucks and equipment
  • Portable steel bridges can't be installed early in the winter season when access roads are soft, often causing delays to other service providers
